Day 3
Begin: St Johnsville (Lock E16)
Begin: Guy Park, Amsterdam (Lock E11)
Day 3 started early, we wanted to make it to Amsterdam. After passing through the lock, we needed fuel so we stopped at St. Johnsville Municipal Marina and topped off the tanks and got some ice for the cooler. After this we motored along, passing an old historic building, but did not stop to look around. We covered some ground in the morning, passing though Lock E15 and Lock E14 without stopping. It was amazing how much damage was still visible from the flood of 2006, despite the work being done in 2006 and the first half of 2007.
Once at Canajoharie we stopped for lunch. There were some large swans swimming around and some other boaters tied up. We ate and hung around swinging on the benches. It is a nice little park with power and water located at the top of the docks.

After relaxing for about an hour, we were on our way again. We passed the Maintenance facility in Fultonville and Fonda, Lock E13 and Lock E12, and made it to Guy Park in Amsterdam where we decided to call it a night. The wall was full, except for a small spot at the end, good thing we have a small boat. We talked to some other boaters, a pair of cruisers were heading south for the year, based out of Geneva. Also was a group from Canada heading out to the ocean and up to Maine. It was our first time stopping and talking with other boaters who were spending there summer on the waters; it was nice to talk to people who were in the same mindset.
We walked around the park, and to the edge of town to see what was there. There is a auto shop across the street, but it was closed. We were not out of fuel, but I figure I should refill here in the morning. We went back to the boat and had dinner and relax. We were getting ready to watch a movie, but found something better. The sun was going down and it was beautiful, so we watched the sunset and then watched a movie and went to bed. (see a pattern yet?)
